Food Supplement Flavour Development

We help create the desired flavour direction for a powder product, taking the formula composition and product properties into account.

From choosing a flavour direction to the prototype and agreed revisions — we adapt the scope to your project.

Supplement formulation work bench with powders and a specification sheet

Who flavour development is for

  • You are developing a new powder supplement
  • You want to choose a flavour direction
  • Ingredients are bitter, acidic or intense
  • Sweetness, acidity and intensity need balancing
  • The formula is ready and a separate flavour stage is needed

If you already have a formula or product, get in touch — we will discuss your project and assess the options.

Two development stages

Product development can consist of two separately agreed stages: I — technical formula development, II — flavour development. When both are planned, flavour development starts after the client approves the Stage I result and the Stage II scope is agreed. If no flavour work is needed, Stage II does not apply. Scope, price, number of revisions and timing are agreed in the offer and contract.

What flavour development can cover

  • Discussing composition and the desired flavour profile
  • Choosing the initial flavour direction
  • Preparing a first prototype or agreed samples
  • Reviewing client feedback
  • Adjusting sweetness, acidity, intensity or other agreed properties
  • Assessing unwanted taste properties
  • Aligning colour, aroma or other sensory properties, if planned
  • Agreeing the final flavour

The number of prototypes, flavour directions and revisions depends on the agreed scope. Additional directions, samples or revisions are agreed and priced separately before work starts.

Production flow

How development works

  1. 01Product and flavour briefWe discuss the formula, flavour direction and key properties.
  2. 02Scope agreementWe set stages, prototypes, revisions, price and indicative timing.
  3. 03Choosing the directionWe assess ingredients and possible solutions.
  4. 04PrototypeWe prepare a first sample within the agreed scope.
  5. 05EvaluationYou give feedback on flavour and other agreed properties.
  6. 06RevisionsWe make the agreed flavour changes.
  7. 07ApprovalThe final flavour is agreed with you.
  8. 08Next stepsSpecification and, if needed, production under a separate agreement.

What you receive

Within the agreed scope:

  • First flavour prototype or agreed samples
  • The agreed number of revisions
  • The agreed final flavour
  • Documentation and specification within the scope and timing set in the contract

Technical recipes, supplier data or exclusive rights are not handed over automatically — they are agreed separately.

Related stage

Need a product formula first?

If you do not have a supplement formula yet, we can start with the product concept and technical formula development. Flavour development, if needed, is agreed as a separate stage.

More about formula development

Separately agreed services

  • Support with product notification in Lithuania
  • Preliminary compliance review of a client-supplied composition
  • Selection of possible health claims within an agreed brief
  • Preparation of mandatory labelling information
  • Organising or administering laboratory testing
  • Coordinating raw material and packaging supply
  • Manufacturing, filling and packaging under a separate agreement

Notification, labelling preparation, stability and external laboratory testing, and serial production are not automatically included in formula or flavour development. We do not guarantee a specific laboratory result, an authority decision or the right to use health claims.

Price and timing

Project price and duration depend on the composition, chosen product form, project complexity, required raw materials and the agreed scope of work. Once we have reviewed your brief, we will send an individual offer.
